THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE SCIB is looking for a CREDIT RISK SR ANALYST based out of Boadilla (Madrid).

Responsibilities
Risk Assessment (ratings): Evaluate the creditworthiness of clients, counterparties, and portfolios under its scope (CE and Spain) by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and market conditions. Review and approval of group ratings globally (Latam, Asia, US and UK) to ensure homogeneity and consistency across all SCIB Risk Units. Engage with Local Units to discuss and review ratings. Responsible as Model Users of the definition and control of the Santander Large Corporate Rating Model. Engage with Model Owner, Methodology, IA and Regulator in the definition of Guides.
Decision-Making: Approve or recommend credit limits and lending decisions within defined authority levels in Global Committees and Local Committees under scope (Spain). Engage with Local Units and presentation in Global committees. Sector analysis and coordination of global preclassification processes.
Policy Development: Establish and enforce credit risk policies, frameworks, and risk appetite guidelines in line with regulatory requirements and Santander strategy. Coordinate with Local Units.
Collaboration: Work closely with Global business units, finance, and compliance teams to balance risk and commercial objectives and define SCIB strategies.

Professional Experience
Minimum 2–4 years of experience in credit analysis, risk management, or corporate finance, ideally in a banking or financial institution. (Required)
Proven experience preparing credit reports, performing due diligence, and monitoring credit exposures. (Required)
Exposure to corporate lending, SME portfolios, or structured finance is highly valued. (Preferred)
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. (Required)
A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is a plus. (Preferred)
Languages
English (Required)
Spanish (Preferred)
Other languages like Portuguese, French or German (Preferred)
Hard Skills
Strong understanding of financial statements analysis, credit risk assessment, and cash flow modeling. (Required)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions and financial modeling). (Required)
Knowledge of credit scoring models, rating methodologies, and risk-adjusted return analysis. (Required)
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, or Python for financial analysis) is desirable. (Preferred)
Familiarity with banking regulations and Basel III/IV frameworks. (Preferred)
Ability to prepare detailed credit memos and present findings clearly to senior management (Required)

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (Spanish is an asset).
