Role Summary
We are looking for a Data Governance & Data Platform Architect to join Getnet's Global Data team in Madrid. This role combines strong functional expertise in Data Governance with a solid technical foundation in modern data platforms. The position will be responsible for evolving the global governance operating model, ensuring data standards are embedded by design into the enterprise Lakehouse architecture, and coordinating governance practices across multiple countries.
Lead and evolve Getnet Global's data governance and data platform capabilities to enable trusted, scalable, and business‑driven data products across all countries and global teams, supporting regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and advanced analytics/AI use cases.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams (Data Governance, Data Engineering, Data Platform) in an Agile environment.
Define clear objectives, assign responsibilities, and ensure efficient and coordinated execution in a multi‑country context.
Foster a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and ownership within the team.
Oversee task prioritization, resource allocation, and the resolution of blockers.
Drive team maturity in Agile practices, ensuring consistency in Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement.
Design and lead the implementation of the data governance strategy, including data quality, lineage, metadata, security, and standardized data models.
Supervise the use and operations of data‑governance tools (cataloging, quality, lineage, MDM) and their integration with automated, AI‑based models.
Ensure comprehensive documentation of architecture, processes, decisions, and standards.
Support regulatory and audit requirements related to data management and traceability.
Define and evolve the global data operating model (roles, responsibilities, data ownership, stewardship model).
Establish governance forums and decision‑making bodies (Data Council, Domain Data Owners, etc.).
Ensure alignment with Group data policies and regulatory frameworks.
Define and track KPIs for data quality, platform adoption, and data value realization.
Oversee the integration and evolution of the Data Lake/Datamart using technologies such as Databricks, Unity Catalog, etc.
Coordinate data ingestion from multiple countries, ensuring harmonization and compliance with corporate standards.
Ensure traceability, integrity, and full documentation of the data lifecycle.
Lead Scrum operations across teams: planning, refinements, progress tracking, and retrospectives.
Ensure comprehensive and up‑to‑date documentation in Jira, including epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and task workflows.
Maintain solid Confluence documentation, covering architecture, processes, integrations, standards, and key decisions.
Ensure proper integration of Agile practices into the global data strategy.
Act as the bridge between data platform capabilities and business domains (Risk, Finance, Operations, CRM and data product teams global and locally).
Promote a data‑as‑a‑product mindset across countries and domains.
Requirements
Education: Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Mathematics, or equivalent.
8–10 years of experience in data‑related roles within the Santander Group, leading both technical and functional teams. Experience within PagoNxt will be highly valued.
Experience with federated and domain‑oriented data architectures.
Experience with Data Lakes and platforms based on Databricks.
Experience in data governance: cataloging, quality, lineage, MDM, standards, etc.
Experience managing backlogs and applying Agile methodology.
Strong command of Jira and Confluence.
Experience with cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Knowledge of data security and access control models.
Experience defining Data Governance frameworks from scratch or scaling them globally.
Experience implementing or managing tools such as Openmetada or other data governance tools.
Experience defining data quality metrics and monitoring frameworks.
Experience driving adoption of enterprise data platforms.
