A Quantum Computing & AI software company based in San Sebastian are seeking to bolster their team with a talented Director of Engineering. Responsibilities: Lead and scale multiple engineering teams focused on machine learning model development, evaluation, and delivery, fostering high performance, collaboration, and accountability. Own the strategic planning and execution of model development and evaluation initiatives, ensuring alignment with product vision, customer impact, and company objectives. Define, implement, and evolve best practices for model experimentation, benchmarking, and evaluation to ensure results are scalable, reproducible, and production-ready. Partner cross-functionally with Research, Platform, Product, Marketing, and Leadership teams to drive integrated execution across the full model lifecycle and downstream product use cases. Provide technical leadership and visibility to senior decision-makers by communicating modelling trends, research insights, risks, and trade-offs (e.G., model complexity vs. efficiency, experimental vs. production approaches). Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Physics, Operations Research, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience). 8+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, data science, or ML-focused roles, including model development, analytics, or evaluation systems. 2+ years of proven leadership experience managing engineering or data teams in a technology-driven environment. Strong experience with Large Language Models and modern ML architectures, including fine-tuning, evaluation methodologies, and benchmark design. Solid understanding of ML development pipelines, model evaluation frameworks, and product-oriented delivery, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
