Location
We have offices in Madrid, and we are also open to a full‑remote setting from Spain.
Type of Employment
Full‑time, indefinite contract.
The Role
We are looking for an EU AML Lead to take full ownership of Crossmint’s anti‑money laundering framework across Europe. This senior, high‑impact role reports directly to the General Counsel and involves direct exposure to regulators, auditors, and executive leadership.
The candidate will be immediately appointed AMLRO with SEPBLAC, becoming the named individual responsible for AML matters in Spain while supporting Crossmint’s broader European regulatory strategy. This role combines strategic ownership with hands‑on execution, including setting direction, reviewing escalations, overseeing complex onboardings, and ensuring real‑world program effectiveness.
What You’ll Do
Own EU AML Strategy and Execution
Design, implement, and maintain Crossmint’s AML framework in line with EU directives, MiCA requirements, and local regulations.
Partner closely with Legal to ensure policies, procedures, and controls scale with the business.
Regulatory Engagement as AMLRO
Act as the primary AML point of contact for regulators, auditors, and banking partners.
Lead regulatory filings and supervisory interactions as AMLRO with SEPBLAC.
Hands‑On Risk Management
Review escalations involving high‑risk users, transactions, or counterparties.
Supervise onboarding of large, strategic, or complex enterprise clients.
Lead enhanced due diligence cases and determine risk outcomes.
File SARs and manage special investigations when required.
Strengthen Internal Controls
Design and monitor AML‑related controls to mitigate financial crime, fraud, and regulatory risk.
Ensure alignment with broader compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO, and DORA.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product, Risk, Finance, Security, and Engineering to embed AML controls into workflows and APIs.
Influence product design to ensure compliance by default.
Build and Champion AML Culture
Train teams across the company on AML responsibilities and risk awareness.
Position compliance as a growth enabler, not a blocker.
What We’re Looking For
Essential: Bilingual/C2 Spanish, as you will be interacting regularly with the Spanish regulator.
6+ years of experience in AML, compliance, internal controls, risk management, and audit.
Proven expertise in KYC/KYB, AML, sanctions screening, SAR preparation, and fraud detection.
Familiarity with MiCA/VASP, GDPR, DORA, SOC2, ISO, and related frameworks. Blockchain or crypto compliance experience is a strong plus.
Web3 experience and strong knowledge of on‑chain analysis tools (Elliptic, Chainalysis, Persona, Notabene) is highly desirable.
Experience with global AML frameworks: EU Fifth Directive, US Bank Secrecy Act, FATF Recommendations, etc. as they apply to fintech and payment services.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CISA, CIA) are a plus.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive, pragmatic mindset. Comfortable leading strategy while getting into details when needed. Works well under pressure in a high‑stakes environment.
