We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic professional to lead and coordinate the institution’s strategic agenda.
The Head of Institutional Strategy and Development will act as a key partner to the Director, contributing to the definition, implementation, and monitoring of institutional priorities. The role requires a strong combination of strategic thinking, operational execution, and the ability to work effectively across scientific and administrative domains.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the implementation of the strategic actions linked to the Severo Ochoa programme.
Contribute to the consolidation of the transfer area.
Promote the institution’s strategic positioning.
Collaborate in the acquisition and monitoring of institutional projects.
Coordinate the generation and reporting of institutional indicators.
Requirements
Lead the implementation and monitoring of the strategic actions defined in the Severo Ochoa programme, ensuring alignment across the organisation.
Act as a strategic advisor to the Director, contributing to institutional decision‑making through analysis, proposals, and structured insights.
Coordinate and drive institutional initiatives across departments, ensuring effective execution of strategic priorities.
Contribute to the strategic development and alignment of the Knowledge Transfer area in coordination with relevant units.
Strengthen the institutional positioning of the centre through active engagement with key stakeholders and networks.
Lead the preparation, submission, and follow‑up of institutional funding opportunities (e.g. infrastructure calls, COFUND, excellence programmes).
Oversee the definition, monitoring, and reporting of institutional KPIs and performance indicators (e.g. UNEIX, CERCA frameworks).
Identify opportunities for institutional growth, competitiveness, and strategic partnerships through benchmarking and ecosystem analysis.
Competences
Strong strategic thinking combined with execution capabilities.
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Ability to work across functions and drive alignment.
Data‑driven mindset with experience in performance indicators.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions
Contract: Permanent contract (scientific‑technical track) linked to the Severo Ochoa Excellence Programme.
This is a project‑based role, initially linked to a defined implementation phase (approx. 12 months), focused on delivery rather than long‑term ownership.
Hours/week: Full time (37,5 hours/week).
