Job Summary University of Alicante, Department of Inorganic Chemistry is seeking a pre‑doctoral researcher for the project “Rational design of hybrid materials for lighting and photocatalysis” (CIPROM/2023/2). The role is a one‑year fixed‑term contract, starting 20 May 2026, with full‑time commitment (37.5 h/week). Responsibilities Synthesis and characterization of carbon dots. Synthesis and characterization of photoactive materials based on zeolites. Determination of the optical properties and photophysics of the synthesized systems. Evaluation of the applicability of the materials. Assistance in writing reports and scientific publications. Any other task related to the project. Qualifications Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or equivalent (EQF level 7) and current enrollment in the University of Alicante PhD programme in Materials Science (EQF level 8). Not a holder of a PhD. Experience in synthesis/characterization of nanomaterials, especially carbon dots and zeolite‑based photoactive materials. Knowledge of advanced characterization techniques (FTIR, Raman, thermogravimetry, mass spectrometry, TEM, EDX, SEM). English language proficiency B2 or higher. Knowledge of a Valencian Region official language is desirable. Spanish nationality or relevant status, with legal residence in Spain if needed. Minimum age 16, no retirement ceiling. Good physical and mental capacity for research tasks. Remuneration €1,644.00 gross per month for the first year of the contract, with potential adjustments in subsequent years as per collective bargaining agreements.
