Help Us Build Our Off-Grid Dog Rehabilitation Centre (Spain)Our dream is to create a space where people, animals, and nature heal together. We welcome volunteer help.We are building a canine rehabilitation centre and an association dedicated to animal, human, and environmental welfare, promoting multi-species interaction and recovery. We currently host individuals who need a place like this, living alongside us and the volunteers.Located in Sagunto, Valencia (55 km from the city centre), our project follows a natural and balanced approach to canine education and rehabilitation. While we are not a traditional shelter or rescue, we work closely with associations that bring us dogs for rehabilitation and adoption. Many dogs end up staying indefinitely as fosters, forming part of our daily life.We are now entering a new phase of the project, expanding into:1. Permaculture & Edible Forests – Moving towards self-sufficiency2. A Mini Sanctuary – Providing a safe haven for rescued animals3. DIY & Workshop Projects – Creating a space for hands-on skills4. Video Editing & Media – Documenting and sharing our journeyVolunteers stay in a dedicated house, separate from but right next to the rehabilitation centre. The house offers:- Beautiful nature views- A huge plot of land- A fireplace & swimming pool- All essential amenitiesHowever, this is a "dog life" experience, which means:- Dogs will bark at times- You may have to clean up the occasional accident- You’ll likely have a furry sleeping companion!Living Arrangements:- Volunteer House – Hosts 8 short-term volunteers in shared double rooms.- Other Houses & Mobile Homes – For long-term volunteers, with private rooms and shared common areas.The work schedule is 4 hours in the morning, starting at 9 am in winter and gradually moving to 7:30 am in summer. Every day begins with a half-hour meeting during breakfast, where we discuss tasks and organise the day's activities. The work is very varied but generally involves manual tasks such as permaculture, fencing, gardening, dog care, construction, and general maintenance.In the afternoon, there are four main tasks that are crucial to the project:- Walking the dogs at the house- Keeping the laundry space in order- Feeding and maintaining the farm animals- Permaculture tasks, such as collecting food, watering, cleaning, and pruningThese tasks are shared on a rotating basis, with two volunteers being responsible for them each week. Depending on the task, the total work hours for the day may extend to a maximum of 5 hours.The project is easily accessible from Valencia Airport, train station, or bus station. There is a bus service from Valencia to the project, which departs from the station.
