Seville Faculty Member: Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
About the Role
Successful candidates will be highly motivated, energetic, student-oriented educators who bring courses to life through active classroom learning and experiential education. Faculty will teach undergraduate courses, embed experiential activities into the curriculum, and work closely with program staff to maintain high-quality teaching and learning experiences across Verto program locations.
What You’ll Be Doing
Develop and deliver courses using provided syllabi, LMS (Canvas), and textbook resources.
Adhere to all local and global faculty requirements, including contact hours, teaching schedule, and curriculum.
Maintain an inclusive environment, treating all students, faculty, and staff with respect.
Develop discipline-based, up-to-date content and applied learning experiences, advancing curricular experimentation with active and experiential learning, student development, learning assessment, and technology.
Evaluate student homework, provide regular formative feedback, and score work in a timely and constructive manner.
Participate in up to ten hours of faculty training & development each semester and an additional five hours of ongoing professional development.
Teach all scheduled courses, host weekly office hours, and respond promptly to student inquiries.
Champion student success by monitoring attendance, engagement, and providing supportive services and accommodations.
Enforce policies on attendance and academic integrity, addressing grading questions and appeals directly with students.
Follow the established academic calendar and maintain accurate academic records of student enrollment, attendance, and performance.
Accurately calculate and submit grades on time through the LMS and the Academic Provider’s grade reporting software (Banner).
Foster learner-centered environments that support early college student development, including:
Helping students develop academic identity and foundational skills.
Using professional language and constructive feedback.
Managing classroom dynamics and power relations.
Ensuring diverse representation in course materials.
Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with program participants, staff, and community partners.
Provide feedback to local and global Verto academic leaders to recommend improvements for academic excellence.
Participate in curriculum development projects and assessment initiatives as directed by the University of New Haven and Verto Education.
Other duties as reasonably assigned.
What We’re Looking For
Master’s degree required, terminal degree (PhD) in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, or a closely related field preferred.
Minimum eighteen graduate credits in a relevant field.
A minimum of two years of teaching experience in English, with at least one year at the university level.
Demonstrated success teaching students with varied learning styles and abilities.
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Openness to feedback and continual improvement.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Comfort implementing policies and classroom standards that align with established protocols.
Passion for active, experiential, reflective, and discussion-based learning.
Eager to collaborate and engage in teamwork.
Legal right to work in Spain; no visa sponsorship.

Compensation
Anticipated base salary range: €900–€1,200 per credit for science courses (typically 4-credit courses).
