SUMMARY OF POSITIONAt Adalvo, we drive high‑quality product development across our portfolio. The Vice President of R&D will oversee the creation of innovative pharmaceutical products and advance the company’s pipeline, providing scientific leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of the R&D function.
ORGANIZATION STRUCTUREThe VP of R&D reports directly to the Chief Scientific Affairs Officer and will support departmental needs as required.
RESPONSIBILITIESGuide scientific leadership to develop innovative products strategically aligned with company goals.
Develop and implement R&D strategies to advance the pipeline and meet business objectives.
Oversee preclinical and clinical development—including trial design, execution, and regulatory filing—ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality drug candidates.
Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and industry partners.
Manage a high‑performing R&D team, fostering mentorship, career growth, and skill development.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
Allocate budgets, resources, and timelines effectively, aligning with corporate goals.
Represent the company at scientific conferences and events to strengthen external visibility.
Identify and develop formulation technologies for potential product candidates.
Lead the execution of development programs for generics, 505(b)(2) products, solid oral dosage forms, topicals, and injectables for EU and US markets.
Collaborate with Intellectual Property, Business Intelligence, PMO, and Regulatory Affairs teams on research program strategy and resource forecasting.
Provide guidance, mentoring, and staff development to meet current and future business needs.
QUALIFICATIONSPhD in pharmacology, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, successfully leading drug development from preclinical through clinical stages.
Strong scientific acumen in drug discovery, development, and regulatory requirements (EMA, FDA, GMP, QSR, GLP).
Proven ability to develop and implement R&D strategies that drive pipeline advancement.
Experience managing high‑performing R&D teams and mentoring staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and build stakeholder relationships.
Demonstrated proficiency in fast‑paced, dynamic environments with strong prioritization, analytical, and problem‑solving capabilities.
Experience managing multiple operational projects, leading multicultural teams, and working with GLP‑1 solutions.
