Overview
In this role, you will manage and optimize enterprise mainframe storage for IBM z/OS environments, ensuring high availability and performance. You will collaborate with infrastructure, operations, and application teams to design, implement, and maintain storage solutions across disk, tape, backup, and disaster recovery. You’ll drive capacity planning, automation, and modernization initiatives to support mission-critical systems. This is a chance to shape storage architecture in a large, regulated environment and deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure.
ResponsabilidadesManage mainframe disk and storage administration including provisioning, upgrades, and ongoing supportConduct daily operations: health checks, incident management, monitoring, issue resolutionPlan and execute storage capacity expansions and infrastructure changesConfigure and maintain storage resources for databases, VSAM files, work datasets, and sort spacesAdminister storage management products (e.g., CA Disk)Install, test, and maintain storage hardware and softwarePerform z/OS hardware planning (IODF, LPAR, HMC) and system changesAdminister backup, recovery, archival, and disaster recovery solutionsUse SMP/E and z/OSMF for software maintenance and deploymentManage storage volume allocation and utilization reportingSupport disaster recovery testing and exercisesRoot cause analysis for storage incidents and preventive actionsCollaborate with systems programming, network, database, and application teamsUtilize automation tools (NetView, System Automation SA z/OS, CA OPS/MVS) to improve efficiencyAutomate repetitive storage tasksDesign and support IBM zSeries storage architectures and solutionsEnsure compliance with security, governance, and standardsMaintain technical documentation and runbooksDemonstrate ownership and technical leadership over storage services
Requisitos principales8 to 15+ years of experience in Mainframe Infrastructure and z/OS Storage AdministrationHands-on experience with IBM z/OS storage in large-scale enterprisesExperience with IBM DS8000 series storage, virtual tape systems, disaster recoveryProven ability in capacity planning, backup/recovery, replication, and operationsExperience in Banking/Financial Services or heavily regulated environments (preferred)Expertise in IBM DS8000 (DS8870, DS8K family), DSCLI, GDPS, PPRC Metro Mirror, DFHSM, DFDSS, ICKDSF, SMS, RMM Customization, z/OS IODF AdministrationExperience installing/upgrading storage hardware and softwareKnowledge of Mainframe Disk Storage Management, Provisioning, Capacity Planning, Backup/Recovery, DRExperience with TS7720 Virtual Tape Systems, Storage Grid Architectures, PPRC ReplicationExperience with EMC DLm Virtual Tape systems (installation, upgrade, config)Experience with Broadcom/Brocade storage networking and FICONKnowledge of z/OS, JCL, Job Scheduling, Mainframe Storage InfrastructureExperience with SMP/E and z/OSMF for maintenance and deploymentStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skillsDesire for knowledge of CA-1/CA Vantage/CA Disk/TDMF/TDMFS/NetView/System Automation/CA OPS/MVS (desirable)Familiarity with storage performance tools, migration projects, modernization initiativesUnderstanding of IBM Parallel Sysplex and GDPS HA architecturesExperience supporting global data centers and regulatory auditsIBM Storage or IBM Z certifications preferredstrong analytical thinkingexcellent communicationcollaboration across cross-functional teamsIBM DS8000 Storage (DS8K/DS8870)DSCLIGDPS
