We are dedicated to growing and developing our employees as we build strong teams with strategic leadership.Job DescriptionThe Ceded Reinsurance Accountant will assume responsibility for all aspects of accounting for assigned ceded reinsurance contracts.Job ResponsibilitiesVerification of underwriting data for quota share and/or excess of loss contracts written by our fronting platform, Capital Solutions.Maintain the accuracy of premium information on excess of loss contracts written by the Capital Solutions platform including endorsements, premium adjustments, and cash allocationsMaintain all aspects of quota share programs written by the Capital Solutions platform including bordereau reporting and posting, claims payments and cash allocationVerification and release of ceded reinsurance contracts written by the Bermuda underwriting ceded reinsurance teamMonitor, and maintain within 90-day threshold, aging of accounts receivable/payableLiaise with brokers, claims department and underwriting departments regarding queries, outstanding receivables/payables, and premium adjustmentsInitiation of funding and withdrawal instructions in our Collateral Pay system to facilitate bordereaux settlements and collateral transactionsAd hoc administrative support to the Outwards Finance team as requiredParticipate in systems enhancements including developing and executing test plansAdditional projects and duties as requiredQualificationsA professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACA) is required with preference given to candidates with experience in public accountingA minimum of five years of professional experience, some of which must have been spent with a reinsurance companyPrevious experience reading and interpreting reinsurance terms and contracts. Technical knowledge of reserving and settlement practices are an assetUnderstanding of accounting for quota share and excess of loss contracts and must have experience with underwriting systemsFinancial reporting experience within a SOX and SEC regulated environment preferredStrong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels and in all areas of the organization across various time zonesA strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative and work without supervision, as well as the ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretionFluent in English, both written and oralExceptional analytical, documentation and presentation skillsStrong computer skills, in particular, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, primarily ExcelAdditional InformationBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
