This position supports the Barcelona station and is responsible for directing and coordinating airport functions, overseeing daily operations, and maintaining operational performance while making tactical and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Maintain and promote a positive Health and Safety culture in the workplace in accordance with Company H&S policies and procedures
Handle direct contractors, insourced staff, and day‑to‑day operation running
Be responsible for overall airport performance and work with General Manager and Regional Management to deliver key operational performance metrics
Champion excellent customer service
Ensure all staff and contractors are correctly trained and updated in accordance with procedures
Conduct contractor briefings for all important operational and procedural updates
Coordinate all station audits
Represent American Airlines with authorities and contractors on a day‑to‑day operational basis
Resolve queries and operational matters from the team
Conduct risk assessments as required along with safe systems of work
Attend management and regional meetings when required
Manage the Emergency Procedures Drill exercise quarterly
Coordinate joint new hires training, trainer’s accommodation, and station readiness in preparation for high season frequency increases
Perform GSC functions across the operation
Oversee delivery of all required contracted security measures
Escalate any security‑related issues to AA station leadership or AA Corporate Security via SecOps and/or Area Manager, Security
Leading and Managing Others
Manage airport functions, including overseeing the local contractor, job performance, and operational issues
Ensure safety and security compliance and develop initiatives to improve safety and security performance within each department
Ensure compliance with corporate standards and audits relating to your functional area
Follow up on customer related issues
Suggest operation improvements
Facilitate ad‑hoc projects as required, including customer airlines
Represent the department at internal and external meetings
Technical Responsibilities
Provide support to the team to ensure efficient daily operation
Resolve service and operational issues escalated by the team
Follow up on any American Airlines service failures toward contract airline customers
Collaborate with other departments and stations to achieve efficiency
Compile reports on operational irregularities and present corrective action suggestions to senior management
Undertake project work as required
Other Duties
Attend meetings and represent the department on all relevant conference calls
Monitor station expenses and review costs to ensure the station stays within the budget
Stand in for General Manager from time to time, if applicable
Monitor and analyze costs and prepare the annual station budget
Undertake any other duties consistent with the position
Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

Experience in an airport environment

Excellent written and oral Spanish and English
Good PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
A breadth of airline knowledge
Valid driving license
Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
Computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
Sabre or other reservation system skills
