ph3Summary /h3 pPerforms laboratory tests required by Saybolt’s clients with supervision, to determine chemical or physical characteristics designated by the client. /p h3Duties Responsibilities /h3 pAnalyst I shall assist other chemists from the department and Chief Analyst or Laboratory Account Managers in his responsibility duties of the laboratory. /p pAnalyst I are responsible for the efficient work within the laboratory, so that he can meet client needs accurately and in time. /p pThe functions to be developed by the chemists, are mainly included within the laboratory activity, so that the development and fulfillment of the functions of the description of each Job, including the specific service of standby, constitute a function of the job and are carried out within the ordinary working day, as long as they are carried out as effective working time. /p pIs responsible for and takes care of running the analysis at the lowest possible costs, while meeting the requirements for safety, quality of service and maintenance of assets. Senior Analyst must ensure full cooperation with his department and his Managers on all assignments. /p pMust follow all company procedures as established by Saybolt and Core Laboratories, including but not limited to HSE Manual, Accounting Policies Procedures, Saybolt Administration Instruction Letter, IT procedures, Ethics Policy, Saybolt Compliance Code, etc. Must keep himself updated and aware of all updates and act accordingly. /p pChemists or Lab Analysts are expected to exhibit professional appearance and attitude. They are also expected to act in harmony with fellow employees. /p pAnalyst I reports directly to Chief Analyst and/or Laboratory Account Managers. /p h3Qualifications /h3 pTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write applicable reports and correspondence clearly. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, schedulers and clients. /p h3Mathematical Skills /h3 pAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and quantities (linear, volumetric, or weight) and to read and interpolate applicable data and tables. Able to draw and interpret applicable graphs and control charts. /p h3Social Skills /h3 ul liGood communication skills. /li liAble to work independently. /li liTeam building skills. /li /ul h3Knowledge, Skills Attributes /h3 pChemists or Lab Analysts must be ready to accept job assignments at any time, including scheduled days off. Overtime must be worked as required. Attendance at monthly safety meetings is required. /p pAnalyst I are able to read and understand all analysis and safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory with some assistance of his managers and work partners with some assistance in case of needed. /p pAble to set up, adjust and operate laboratory equipment for which the Chemist or Lab Analyst has been adequately trained and has been verified to operate correctly in accordance with applicable standards and sound laboratory practice with some supervision. /p pPerform basic analytical tests from well-defined standards and procedures as required by the Location Manager or senior management staff. Chemists or Lab Analysts must be documented to be able to perform all tests in accordance with applicable standards and sound laboratory practice with some supervision. /p pClean and sterilize laboratory equipment. /p pCalibrate laboratory instruments for which the Chemist or Lab Analyst has been adequately trained and has been verified to operate correctly in accordance with applicable standards and sound laboratory practice with some supervision. /p pPrepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas. /p pAttend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas analysis, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials disposal, and other safety and compliance training required by applicable regulations. /p pUnderstand and be able to complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into Saybolt’s laboratory computer programs. /p pAble to perform and maintain laboratory procedures, equipment calibration, control charting, documentation and records in full compliance with the quality assurance program outlined in Saybolt’s quality manuals and compliance program. /p pAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats. /p pFamiliarity with basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs are required; however Chemists or Lab Analysts must possess the capability to learn these applications through instruction provided by Saybolt. Chemists or Lab Analysts must also be familiar with and capable of using Saybolt’s LIMS computer program. /p h3Other Information /h3 h3Physical demands /h3 pThe physical demands described here are representative, but not necessarily all-inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. /li liChemists or Lab Analysts must regularly lift or move up to 5 Kilograms and occasionally lift or move up to 25 Kilograms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. /li /ul h3Work Environment /h3 ul liWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Saybolt provides product information, training, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment in an effort to protect employees from exposure to potentially harmful levels of those materials.
