Divemaster Trainee (training for work exchange)
Would you like to get to know what it’s like to work at a dive center while improving your diving skills and gaining experience? How about spending a season as a Divemaster Trainee at Diving Dragonera in the beautiful Port d’Andratx on Mallorca?
Our PADI 5 Star dive center is located directly by the sea on the harbor promenade of Port d’Andratx in the southwest of Mallorca, only 30 km from Palma. Founded in 1987, we are one of the oldest dive centers on the island. Our modern offshore RIB, the “Barracuda,” allows for very short travel times to some of the best dive sites in the Balearic Islands, including the famous marine reserve Sa Dragonera. Whether beginner or advanced diver, from caverns and caves to impressive rock formations, everything is on offer that a diver’s heart desires. Huge schools of barracudas, large groupers, octopuses, moray eels, scorpionfish, and various species of rays are part of everyday diving. In addition to classic scuba diving, we also offer snorkeling trips, freediving, mermaid diving, and stand-up paddling.
As a Divemaster Trainee, you will work in all areas of the dive center – from customer service, training, and accompanying dive trips to the sale of diving equipment. And of course, you will also be involved in everything that happens behind the scenes to provide our guests with an outstanding underwater experience.
We offer our Divemaster Trainee program based on the principle of “training in exchange for assistance,” for which you should be able to commit at least 4–6 months. Our season runs from early April to the end of October. As part of your work with us, we will train you to become a PADI Divemaster, and you can log the dives required for Divemaster certification with us (a total of 60 logged dives is required upon completion of the training). To begin the Divemaster course, you must already hold a Rescue Diver certification and have at least 40 logged dives. Depending on individual arrangements and with an appropriate extension of the internship, it is also possible to complete preparatory dive courses (AOWD, Rescue) and to log the dives required to start the training as part of the internship.
In addition to enthusiasm for diving and a positive attitude, you should have good German and English skills. As a dive center under German management, the majority of our guests come from German-speaking countries. However, the on-site team is multicultural, and a lot of Spanish and English is spoken, offering plenty of opportunities to further improve your Spanish skills as well.
