Montse Codina Coach is recruiting on behalf of an international agri-food company, headquartered in the province of Barcelona, for a Genomics Project Lead to join its R&D Biotech team. Genomics Project Lead – R&D Biotech About the Role The Genomics Project Lead will lead genomics-driven projects focused on the identification of key genes and alleles that support the development of innovative horticultural varieties. This role plays a central part in connecting genomics, bioinformatics, and breeding programs, contributing both strategically and operationally to gene discovery and applied research. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee biotech and genomics projects, ensuring efficient planning, execution, and delivery of objectives. Design, plan, and execute genomics work packages within transversal R&D projects. Develop, implement, and optimize genomics and bioinformatics pipelines. Support biotech units and breeding teams in the effective use of genomics tools and data. Stay up to date with scientific advances to contribute to short- and long-term genomics strategy within R&D. Train, mentor, and supervise a team of genomics assistants and technicians. Ensure effective communication and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders. Promote cross-functional and external collaborations to accelerate gene discovery and innovation. Profile Ph.D. in Genomics, Plant Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Strong background in genomics and quantitative genetics. Solid understanding of bioinformatics tools, biostatistics, and experimental design. Proven experience in project management and scientific team leadership. Fluent in English and Spanish. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Results-driven and collaborative mindset, with a focus on process optimization and continuous improvement.
