About the InstituteThe Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain. It hosts more than 400 scientists from 34 countries and is part of the CERCA Network and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST). IBEC has been recognized three consecutive times as a Research Center of Excellence through the Severo Ochoa Program of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Universities. Our research focuses on a deeper understanding of biological systems, their organizing principles, and the prediction, analysis, modulation, and control of living systems. The IBEC’s mission is to conduct interdisciplinary research at the cutting edge of bioengineering, thereby improving health and quality of life for people and generating societal prosperity.
