About Crag CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading‑edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Responsibilities
The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a Lab Technician to be part of the group Epigenetics and Plant Development. The successful candidate will perform plant tissue culture and in‑vitro transformation, apply core molecular biology techniques, and assist other members of the research group investigating the regulatory mechanisms of plant chilling responses using strawberry as a model system. The tasks are included within the framework of the project ERC Consolidator Grant (ERC‑CoG2025) “Regulatory mechanisms underlying chilling responses: towards the design of climate‑smart plants” (tuneCHILL; GAP‑101229978).
Requirements
Applicants should hold a degree in Biological Sciences or a related field.
Holding a Master’s degree will be an advantage.
Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish/Catalan.
Skills
Plant in‑vitro culture and transformation – essential.
Basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning strategies) – essential.
Strong attention to detail and organization – essential.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively – essential.
Previous work with Fragaria species – desirable.
Experience
Hands‑on experience in a laboratory setting.
Working Conditions
Contract Duration: 2 years with possibility of extension.
Hours/week: full time.
Start date: 01/02/2025.
