About Crag CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading‑edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world. Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data. Responsibilities Postdoc Researcher to be part of the groups of Genomics of ancient crops and domestication and Rosaceae Genetics and Genomics. The candidate will be in charge of the following tasks: Analyzing SV in the pangenome of Brassica that are close to genes and may have been involved in the domestication process. Analyzing whole genome SNP variability in a collection of Brassicas aligned to the super‑pangenome, assessing whole genome variability and identifying regions potentially under positive selection. Analyzing transposable insertion polymorphisms in the pea super‑pangenome in association with known phenotypes (TIP‑GWAS) and assessing consistency in a collection of resequenced Pisum accessions. The tasks are within the framework of the Horizon Europe funded project COUSIN – "Crop Wild Relatives utilisation and conservation for sustainable agriculture". Views and opinions expressed are those of the author(s) only and do not reflect the EU or REA. Requirements Degree in Biological Sciences, Genetics, Plant Biology or similar. PhD in Plant Biology with a focus on crops and genome assembly. Excellent English proficiency. Skills Strong competence in bioinformatics tools such as PLINK or BCFtools. Excellent command of R and Python scripting. Proficiency in terminal usage and HPC environments; ability to create environments and launch jobs. Experience More than two years experience in genome assembly using PacBio and Nanopore data. Experience in genome annotation. More than five years experience in whole genome sequence analysis in the framework of population diversity and positive selection. Working Conditions Contract duration: 6 months.
