Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Power BI Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support business intelligence, reporting, and data governance initiatives within a large and complex defence-sector environment.This role will act as the primary expert for Power BI technologies, providing technical leadership, best-practice guidance, training, and support for reporting solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping stakeholders transform data into actionable insights while ensuring governance, scalability, and user adoption across the organisation.Key ResponsibilitieServe as the primary subject matter expert for Power BI solutions and reporting platformsDesign, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytics solutionsProvide expertise in Power BI Report Server (PBIRS) installation, configuration, administration, and optimisationCreate and maintain reporting frameworks that support business and operational decision-makingDevelop and deliver training programmes, workshops, and user enablement initiatives for Power BI users and administratorsAdvise stakeholders on best practices in business intelligence, reporting architecture, and data visualisationSupport data governance initiatives, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance in reporting and analytics processesCollaborate with technical and business teams to identify reporting requirements and deliver effective solutionsContribute to the adoption and integration of modern Microsoft data and analytics technologies, including Microsoft FabricTroubleshoot complex reporting and analytics issues and provide expert-level supportPromote continuous improvement of reporting capabilities, governance frameworks, and user experienceRequired Experience & QualificatioUniversity degree or equivalent qualification in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Governance, Computer Science, or a related field.Minimum 10 years of professional experience as a Power BI Subject Matter Expert, Business Intelligence Consultant, or Data Analyst.Advanced expertise in:Power BI Report Server (PBIRS)Report development and dashboard creationPBIRS installation, configuration, and administrationTraining development and deliveryStrong understanding of data governance principles and practices.Experience with or solid knowledge of Microsoft Fabric.Valid Microsoft Power BI certification.Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.Customer-focused mindset with a strong commitment to end-user satisfaction.Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.Professional proficiency in English.Desirable ExperiencePrevious experience working within defence, government, public sector, or international organisations.Experience supporting large-scale enterprise reporting and analytics environments.Advanced proficiency in both English and French.Familiarity with highly regulated or security-conscious environments.
