Position Summary The Technical Superintendent is responsible for the oversight and coordination of all technical aspects of Fraser-managed superyachts. This includes ensuring vessels technical compliance, maintenance planning, refit planning and support, and technical performance monitoring. The role requires proactive engagement with captains, crew, shipyards, and suppliers to maintain the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational excellence. The Technical Superintendent plays a key role in supporting the vessel’s lifecycle, from onboarding and assessments, to refits and insurance claims. This position involves regular international travel and requires a strong commitment to client service, technical integrity, and teamwork. Key Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to) Technical Support Lead the monitoring of vessel condition, performance, and maintenance planning. Conduct technical assessments and onboard inspections. Oversee the implementation and review of Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS). Prepare and manage annual maintenance budgets and worklists. Coordinate with crew and shipyards during dry-dockings, refits, and repairs. Compliance & Safety Ensure vessel compliance with Class, Flag, and statutory regulations. Comply with and execute the technical elements of the company SMS. Own the monitoring and auditing of the Mini ISM system for vessels under 500GT. Liaise with the Safety Department on ISM/ISPS matters and flag state communications. Monitor and follow up on audit findings and inspection reports. Procurement & Logistics Support Support the procurement department in specification and scoping of purchase orders. Insurance & Risk Management. Lead the technical response to incidents and initiate insurance claims. Coordinate with insurance brokers and surveyors for claim resolution. Ensure compliance with insurance requirements during shipyard periods. Oversee and manage the renewal of vessel insurance. Stakeholder Collaboration Maintain strong communication with captains, crew, and internal departments. Provide regular technical reporting to clients and internal stakeholders. Represent Fraser Yachts during shipyard visits and client meetings. Requirements of the job (essential skills, qualifications, and experience) Essential skills Strong technical knowledge of vessel systems and maintenance practices. Proficiency in PMS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines under pressure. High ethical standards and discretion in handling confidential information. Qualifications and experience Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. Minimum 5 years in a marine technical role, including experience with yachts or passenger vessels. Experience managing dry-dockings, refits, and technical projects. Familiarity with insurance claims and compliance audits. Detailed knowledge of Classification Society and Flag state requirements in relation to Yachts and Passenger Yachts (or passenger ships). Working Conditions Office-based, within Fraser Yachts’ Yacht Management department. The role will involve regular visits to vessels and shipyards/suppliers. Ordinarily the position will follow standard business hours, but flexibility will be required to accommodate vessel schedules, urgent issues and emergency response. xsgfvud Travel requirement: up to 30-40% travel, including national and international travel, may be required.
